SERVING CANARY WHARF FOR OVER 35 YEARS
ABOUT US
Lanterns Arts and Educational Nursery has been operating for over 35 years with a committed and experienced team, who are passionate and dedicated to making a difference in children’s lives and ensuring they have the best start. We always aim to create a learning environment and build relationships which support, enhance and invite a child’s curiosity, confidence and individual competency to flourish regardless of backgrounds, circumstances or needs as we believe every child is unique and special.

SAFETY FIRST
At Lanterns Arts & Educational Nursery, safety and safeguarding are our highest priorities. We are committed to providing a secure, nurturing environment where children feel safe, valued, and confident to learn and explore. We ensure that every child receives close attention and care, while all staff are fully trained in safeguarding procedures and regularly updated with the latest guidance. We follow robust policies and clear procedures to protect every child’s wellbeing, alongside maintaining an open and vigilant culture where concerns are always taken seriously. Our nursery is equipped with secure entry systems, and children are supervised at all times, with regular risk assessments and safety checks carried out both indoors and outdoors. We also work closely with parents to ensure consistency and reassurance, creating a strong partnership that supports each child’s safety and development. Through these measures, we strive to create a calm, secure environment where children can thrive and families feel confident in the care we provide.
PARENT PARTNERSHIP
At Lanterns, we recognise that building a strong parent partnership is essential to supporting every child’s development and wellbeing. We are proud to offer an open house policy, encouraging parents to feel welcome, involved, and confident in approaching staff at any time. Before children begin their journey with us, we arrange dedicated meetings with families to get to know each child as an individual, ensuring we understand their needs, routines, and interests from the very start. This is supported by thorough and carefully planned settling-in sessions, allowing children to build trust, feel secure, and transition smoothly into nursery life with their parents by their side. Alongside this, our Events and Out & About Programme creates meaningful opportunities for parents to engage in their child’s learning, both within the nursery and beyond. These shared experiences enrich children’s education, strengthen relationships, and help every child feel supported, valued, and proud of their achievements. Through open communication, mutual trust, and ongoing collaboration, we foster a warm, inclusive community where children and families thrive together.

OUR VALUES
Everything we do at Lanterns is guided by four simple beliefs about how children learn, grow, and thrive.
1.
Every Child is Unique
We celebrate individuality and tailor our approach to each child's own pace, personality, and interests.
2.
Play is Learning
Children learn best through curiosity, exploration and creative play so that's exactly what we build our days around.
3.
Families are Partners
We work hand in hand with parents open door policy, daily updates, and always honest communication.
4.
Arts Spark Confidence
Our arts-based ethos gives children a powerful way to express themselves and build self-belief from the very start.
THE PEOPLE BEHIND LANTERNS
